Making Memories is Worth the Trouble

Traveling with kids is hard… Like really hard. If someone tells you otherwise, he’s lying. But I’m here to tell you traveling with kids is worth it.

When we are at home, I tend to keep Avery on a strict schedule. It just works better for us. Her bedtime is the same every day, as is her lunch, breakfast, snacks, and naps. But when we travel, I am not as strict… Because life happens, and sometimes it happens in the off-hours.

Case and point: we were in Steamboat for a work conference/family ski trip and decided to make some special memories with our too-young-to-ski daughter, so we bundled up and took our precious little lady on an evening sleigh ride. Avery loves animals, and naturally, she adored the horses. She had a great time, even though it was well past her bedtime.

It was a beautiful night in Steamboat! The temperatures weren’t too cold, we had hot chocolate and warm blankets… Followed by a lovely dinner at Haymaker. I would definitely recommend this for families. The staff and the horses were so nice and friendly. They really made sure we had everything we needed for the baby.

Why I believe traveling with kids is worth it

Overall, I know it was past Avery’s bedtime, but some memories are worth staying up late for. In the end, we won’t remember the cranky baby back at the hotel, but we will remember the giggles when she saw the horses, or cuddling with our sweet baby under a blanket on the sleigh. If you ever find yourself in a similar situation wondering if it will be worth the effort to keep the kids up, or take the kids with you on a new adventure, I’d suggest always saying yes… Yes, it is worth it in the end.
